Our Program
Wrestling at Granite Oaks Middle School is a no cut sport open to both boy and girls. Wrestlers are able to practice and compete against others in their weight group. The following are the middle school competitive weight classes: 66,70,76,83,89,95,100, 103, 108, 112, 116, 122, 128, 135, 142, 153, 168, 185, 205, and 235 lbs. We do not promote weight loss to make a specific weight class, rather wrestling in the weight class they naturally are in.

Wrestling competitions consist of two types:
First we have dual meets which are competitions with one specific team from our league, usually taking place on Tuesday and Thursday nights. We have twelve dual meets. The meet consists of matches between the two teams with one “Varsity Wrestler” from each of the 20 weight classes. Following the Varsity meet, the two teams attempt to wrestle as many exhibition matches as possible between the non-varsity wrestlers. We expect all wrestlers on the team to attend all the dual meets.

The second type of competition are the Saturday Tournaments. These tournaments are optional and wrestlers need to arrange their own transportation. Each tournament we have on the schedule will have at least one coach attending.
